Happy Halloween

I don't know how many trick or treaters we will see tonight as it supposed to be windy and raining all of today. We seem to get fewer each year as the neighbourhood kids get older and the fact that our properties are so widely spaced out. The parents take kids into town where the areas are more congested.

I was at a Horiculture meeting in Keswick, Ontario the other night and they had a pumpkin carving contest. I wanted to share with you some of their creations.

The first on is my favourite but I also liked the one with hydrangea hair. Hope you have fun tonight.

Wee Granddaughter’s Baptism

Kenzi collage

Last weekend was the baptism of our granddaughter.  It was a lovely ceremony with my daughter in law’s sister being godmother and our oldest son as godfather.  The Pastor that married Mom and Dad two years ago was officiating.  The little dress fit for a princess was a gift from her godmother.  The cake was from a local bakery in Barrie that did a wonderful job.

Kenzi enjoyed every moment of her day despite coming down with a cold.  Unfortunately it was a short stay for me as I too had just got the cold and was having the chills.  Hubby and I went home right after and I went straight to bed.  I have not gotten rid of it yet.

I hope you have a great week.  I will be joining Mosaic Monday.

Not Gone

Monarch butterfly on Miss Ruby Buddlea

Just thought to pop in this morning to let you know that I have not fallen off the side of the map.   I have a crappy cold that had me laid low since Friday.   This monarch butterfly was one of the only ones to visit the garden this year and if I kept back he was content to visit the Buddleia “Miss Ruby”

Thanksgiving Mums

My oldest son brought me a pot of Chrysanthemums for Thanksgiving.    I miss the ability to post more often.  I got quite good at it when I was doing the August Break but since then I have slid back to my old ways.

Hope you are having a great day.

Fun with Hay Bales

We had my husband's uncle stay with us over Thanksgiving. After we took him back home we decided to just leisurely travel home and look at the fall colour. On hwy 48 close to Stouffville, Ontario in a farmer's field were a number of characters made from bales of hay. I just had to take some photos as they were so cute. I took some with my camera and these two with the iPhone.

Dropping Leaves

leaves dramatic chippy with texture

I have noticed that in our own back yard the leaves are steadily dropping. Some of the trees are now bare.  I love the colours of the leaves at this time of the year.  Such rich browns, golds and reds.  I will miss you when you are gone.

Trappers Cabin at Georgina Pioneer Park

Trappers Cabin collage

Yesterday, October 5 was the WorldWide Scott Kelby Photography Walk.    I had a hard decision to make as in my area there were two walks to choose from.  I decided to go with the Georgina group as they were going to the Georgina Pioneer Park and the Georgina Military Museum.   I had never visited this park although it is less than a half hour from home.

It was very overcast all day and we expected to get rained on at some point.   Thankfully, it did not happen and we were free to wander all over the area to take photos.  Unfortunately, we were not allowed in the buildings as there were no volunteers to oversee them.  I took over two hundred photos which I will edit over the next few weeks.  I did want to share one of the cabins that was on the property;the trappers cabin.

I am joining Mary for Mosaic Monday.   Hope you have a great week.  This week is the week before the Canadian Thanksgiving so will be shopping and cleaning to get ready for our family feast.

What a Week

It has been one of those crazy weeks where you run around in circles and accomplish nothing. I am working on the newsletter for my Horticulture Society, a job I have done for seven years, and i just haven't been able to buckle down to getting it done. The deadline is looming and I must finish. I haven't been able to blog this week. I hope to get back to it in a few days.

Hope you are all having a productive week
