Apple Practice

apple mosaic

The camera club that I belong to has a theme each month.  We send our best shot in for that particular theme and it is put up on the website for viewing.  At the meeting several are picked by the leaders to talk about.  It is to be a teaching effort and not a blood sport to pick apart.

The theme for February is food and beyond liking to eat I have very little practice taking photos of food in a pleasing manner.  There was good light in the kitchen this morning so I set up my camera with the macro lens on it and played around with the various settings.  A juicy gala apple was something colourful and easy to play around with.

I am joining our host Mary for Mosaic Monday.  Did you have a good weekend? I hope so.  Our weather this week is going from the deep freeze to some very balmy temperatures.  It is rather weird.

Awesome mosaic, I could reach in a take an apple. Rain for this week, hate to ask for snow, but the plants would like their blanket back. Take care, Jen

You did wonderful with your theme. The apples look very tasty. We have a forecast of freezing rain tomorrow, I am not very happy with our cold weather lately. Wishing you a happy week ahead.

Hi Val
Nice composition with the apple - my favourite is the bottom left where little droplets of water are still sitting on the skin after you washed it. I buy gala too.

You did very well, and you got some great shots.

I love the idea of them not letting it be a blood sport....that's kind of why I never join in. Too scared.

You did a great job on the macro mosaic Valerie. The warmth is coming here mid-week too. It'll be a nice break. I hope you have a nice week. Blessings, Pam

kitchen lighting can be so lovely for food photography - and it changes through the day. I dabble a lot in food photography - and I like your top left image particularly. It is a natural looking shot - well done.
I have just joined a photography club and my first meeting is this Thursday. (gulp!!) It is a hard thing to put yourself and your work out there for creative criticism!
Take care and have a wonderful week.

Food photography is the most challenging, I feel. You are off to a great start practising with these apples. The lighting is perfect, Valerie.

Your photographs are beautiful. I neglect my macro lens during the winter. I usually only take it out for flowers in Spring and winter. Thank you for the inspiration.

Your mosaic is lovely.

Oh that's a lovely collage. Your poor plants will be so confused by that weather for sure!
