You can see here the reason it is called the cup plant. Water tends to accumulate where the leaves and stem form. More interesting macros can be found HERE for Macro Saturday. Do you take macro or close up photos? Join us. We would love to see them. Valerie |

Lovely yellow flower and it looks more beautiful on the dark background.
Its interesting how it holds the water between the leaves and stem, probably a reserve for dry weather.
Thank you so much Valerie, I didn't know about the bugs on orchids.
I left my computer immediately and checked; I can't see any white bugs, but I'll check again tomorrow at daylight.
Have a beautiful weekend!
Sounds like the perfect plant for my yard. Very pretty.
I don't mind if this flower will dominate my yard it's very pretty and I like the color. Happy weekend!

Interesting and beautiful plant. The pictures are awesome!
Wow, yours is in bloom. Mine is still in the bud stage, but over 7 feet tall this year.
Oh... very pretty flower!
Mine's HERE.
thats some size! it probably looks well near that large thistle of yours too. Do you have to stake it to keep it standing tall?
What a unique flower. I've not seen this and it's very fascinating.
Mine is in bloom too Val, I just love it. I'm wondering if we got them at the same time from our MG plant sale?

Lovely yellow flowers! I wonder why it gathers the water...
I have another yellow plant, the Jerusalem artichoke, which is something the same size, and spreads, but it blooms later in the year, almost in the autumn.
That sure is a pretty bloom. Someone offered me some of that, but when I found out it spreads, shied away from it. I don't have a big yard. I wish I did. I like your straight out of the camera post, too.
I love its color and so interesting plant. I also like the post from above.
What a lovely flower! Love the shot of the cup of the plant!
Great post!
