Cup Plant or Silphium perfoliatum is in its second year in the garden. It is 7ft or 2.13 meters tall. It has thick stems and large leaves that act a cup to hold water. The flowers are school bus yellow. It is easy to grow and maintain. The plant tolerates clay and is drought tolerant. Only draw back is its tendency to spread. Give it lots of room. |

Lovely yellow flower and it looks more beautiful on the dark background.
Its interesting how it holds the water between the leaves and stem, probably a reserve for dry weather.

I left my computer immediately and checked; I can't see any white bugs, but I'll check again tomorrow at daylight.

thats some size! it probably looks well near that large thistle of yours too. Do you have to stake it to keep it standing tall?

I have another yellow plant, the Jerusalem artichoke, which is something the same size, and spreads, but it blooms later in the year, almost in the autumn.
That sure is a pretty bloom. Someone offered me some of that, but when I found out it spreads, shied away from it. I don't have a big yard. I wish I did. I like your straight out of the camera post, too.
