Much Too Soon

New buds

I am concerned for the longevity of my plants after this unusual winter we have had.  As I was out walking in the Sandbox this morning I took the time to look at the various shrubs .  The Magnolia seemed to be fine but the Tree Peony right beside it had red growth showing from the buds.   The Serviceberry also showed opening buds and the Rosa Rugosa that grows in the front garden was also sprouting.   A cold snap will kill off these buds but will will they survive the freeze and thaw that has been the norm so far.  Only time will tell.

I am joining Mosaic Monday with Mary.   Thanks for visiting the Sandbox.  Valerie

It's always a worry when the buds come out too early. Beautiful, glowing photos!

What a pretty mosaic! I hope your shrubs won't get zapped. It's such a strange winter isn't it. Pamela

Nice mosaic.
It's probably not the first time these plants are touched by frost. I'm sure they will survive.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Val
I like your background for the twigs. Am I going to come home to spring? We have an area on the south side of our house that I don't think has seen snow yet this winter.
Getting our fill of seafood, and walking too.

My tree peony is not in bud, but the snowdrops are flowering a month early. I do wonder if we will have real estate areas to fill, it has been a roller coaster winter.

Beautiful shots. We have similar worries with this strange weather, running warm to freezing. I'm sure they are hardy and will be fine.

The winter has been odd ... that's for sure! We have been dealing with drought. I hope your plants survive whatever comes! Your mosaic *glows*!

The light in these photos is stunning. What a strange winter we've been having in Canada. I hope your plants survive.

It has been a very mild winter here in Florida, too! Today we saw redbud trees blooming and lots of plants and trees were greening up. I hope everything survives! ♥

on the other side of the globe we have had a strange summer - blazing hot one day and rain the next - it never rains in January! And it too has affected are garden.
It is lovely to see these new buds - I hope so much for you that they survive and bring the spring to you.
Have a wonderful week.

Very pretty Val - and I know how you feel as we had unusual growth aswell in January - now we are bitterly cold as winter arrived here last week.

Hi Val, Beautiful photos! But yes, so early to be budding. I do know what you mean. We are having the same concerns. It's very warm and sunny here but I know it's not really spring yet. I hope all of yours survive and do well.

I agree it's a bit scary out there - my lilac is budding green, the daffodils are up 2" and the hydrangeas are starting to show some budding.
Thanks for visiting my little blog project and leaving a comment - every one is appreciated.

Yes, that is exactly what I have been thinking! Your mosaics are beautiful though.

Europe is having an extreme winter and we are having a Spring winter.

I think we are in at least for one more freeze. I guess its Mother Natures way of reminding the trees and plants who is really in control, and gently teasing them by allowing the first blooms.

Hoping You Have a Blessed Easter
