An Old Wooden Porch

Lucy Maud Montgomery House with kk filicity

This photo is the front porch of a home owned by Lucy Maud Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables and her husband when they lived in Leaskdale, Ontario.  She wrote many of her books at this home.   I used a black and white conversion layer to start and then brought back the green from the front porch pillars.   I added Kim Klassen’s texture called “filicity”.   I used the blending modes of multiply and softlight.   I think it looks vintage.

I am joining Kim Klassen Café for Texture Tuesday and Lisa Gordon for The Creative Exchange.

I love this photo and the way you layered and textured it. The green posts pop but are still subtle. I think the term 'felicity' sounds like a L.M. Montgomery name don't you? (Road to Avonlea) Appropriate. Pamela

The texture is great - it does look vintage. And what a great subject. I love LMM's books and have most of them.

I find that the photo has a wonderfully 'ghostly' quality to it.

Beautiful work, Val. Very definitely vintage and perfect for her home. I'm always struck by what a wonderful philosopher she was through her characters.

Wishing you a lovely week! – g

I really like what you have done here. The way you have photographed the verandah and the processing - especially bringing back the green on the posts. Wonderful work. I have joined Texture Tuesday this week too!

I like the b/w conversion - I always forget to use that technique. This looks really nice with the texture and the hint of color.

Have never tried this, love putting things into b&w but have never tried to then bring a color back!

Good work on the vintage editing - I loved those books though I didn't realise that the author didn't live on Prince Edward Island.
