Bloodroot

bloodroot-diptch

Here and there in the Sandbox garden little bursts of colour are appearing like the native Bloodroot and the non native double bloodroot.  I have been busy documenting them as they appear.  I have noticed in my cleaning up that I lost a few plants over the winter but thankfully these came back.

How is your garden doing?  Did you lose anything over this cold winter?   I am joining Mary for Thursdays Inspiration where the theme this week was spring.

Beautiful images. We did not have a harsh winter so all periennials have done well this year. Last year it got hot too quickly and then got cold again,

Such beautiful flowers. I love white in a garden. Glad some survived the winter.

These are beautiful photos Valerie. I have never seen bloodroot but it is certainly a pretty plant. I didn't lose anything that I know of. Enjoy the weekend. Pam

Lovely images! Things are starting to really feel like spring, but even today it is COLD.
I think we may have lost our little dogwood tree this winter.... no activity on it and normally it would have leaves on it by now.

So pretty. Love the lighting in the photo of the right.

These are little gems Valerie.
I haven't seen them at my garden centre - probably it's not cold enough to get them established here.
They have a resemblance to the crocus.

Valerie,
Exquisite photography, dear one!!!
I must look for Bloodroot at the nursery and see if it will thrive here on the Prairie of Kansas.
Our Gardens are looking good for Spring as everything begins to green~up!!!
Fondly,

Looks like I lost a ligularia - it was new last year, so I think it was not sturdy enough. Darn.

The bloodroot looks beautiful - love the shot of white that it gives a dark corner in the garden.

Happy Gardening!!

I LOVE these whites, Valerie, especially the one on the left.
We had a relatively mild winter, so we did not lose anything to the weather, but we did lose 2 Mountain Laurel bushes to the deer. :-(

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend!
