Scenes from the Sandbox After the Ice Storm

ice storm collage

Last week we had a two days of freezing rain.  All the trees and shrubs were covered in ice.  The branches were so heavy that many snapped off or were hanging on the ground.  Branches from the trees behind us came crashing down in our yard and the neighbours.

Many people lost power from ice on power lines or just from broken branches.  Some people are still with out power today and some will not have power for some days to come.  We were spared in this area.

I am joining Mary for Mosaic Monday.  Hope you are keeping snug and warm.

That was some storm. Pictures were all over our news broadcasts. So glad you didn't lose power. It would be difficult in this cold weather.

Ice is beautiful, but deadly.

I have to admit, it was pretty seeing everything covered in glistening ice. We too were lucky not to lose our power.
Wishing you a fabulous new year Val.

Those ice storms can be terrible but they do provide beauty for the eye and camera and you have captured some gorgeous scenes. Hope things are back to normal quickly. Happy New Year!

I’m sorry so many lost power with such cold temperatures and all that ice! I’m happy to hear you didn’t loose power. I sure hope no one was injured or had any property damage with the falling trees.

Wishing you a wonderful and Happy New Year!

Hello dear Valerie
It's a magical mosaic!
We have seen the devastation on our television screens and pray for all those effected especially the ones without power and warmth.

Wishing you health, JOY and happiness for 2014.

The ice was indeed pretty to photograph...up here north of the city where there was much less damage. We were lucky!

The ice storm created havoc for so many people, yet it also created wonderful opportunities for those of us that love to take photos.

The storm sure makes for some beautiful pictures for your collage. Ice is so beautiful and so miserable all at the same time.

Happy New Year to you!

I'm working on television news here in Finland so I saw lots of video feed from that ice storm. Your world looked really beautiful but I know all the harm it caused.
I wish you a wonderful year 2014!

I hope power was restored to those that lost it! It has been unusually cold in so many regions this early winter.

Happy and healthy 2014 to you and your family!

It's a good thing the aftermath is lovely to look at so one can find the good in the storm. Happy 2014 to you.
