Favourite Photo of the Year

lilac-clematis-with-purple-

I was so impressed with myself for this photo and as I look at it now I can see a large boo boo.  It is a bulls eye shot and it does not hit any of the intersections of  the rule of thirds.  I just loved the colours in it and with the texture from French Kiss called purple prose I made me happy.

I am joining Lisa for the first 2012 edition of The Creative Exchange.   Valerie

Valerie, there is definitely NO boo-boo here, as far as I am concerned. One of the reasons so much time is spent on the Rule of Thirds is so that we can creatively break that rule, and you have done that so beautifully here!! I would not change a thing about this wonderful photograph. It is simply perfect to me.

Thank you so very much for sharing with us today at The Creative Exchange.

Have a great day!

I for one don't think you needed the rule of thirds for this photo- such a soft and lovely capture.

Rules are there to be broken and sometimes things are good in the middle! A beautiful image, maybe take from this that you're growing as a photographer, it's a good sign :)

rules are meant to be broken - I do that every day in every way!

Your photo is lovely. Remember, rules are meant to be broken and sometimes centered is right for the shot. I love your effect. I have tried lots of Kim Klaussen's textures but they never look right on my photos. Not sure why. Nancy

Rules Smules, the picture is a beauty. I love the texture behind the cosmos!

it certainly is a beautiful choice Valarie - but to be correct, yes, the image could have been improved by applying the rule of thirds. Of course, you can still crop the image - the wonder of digital!
Sometimes we don't see things till later. However, the texture and pp you have done is truly beautiful.

I LOVE this image! It's so beautiful and delicate. Sometimes I don't think the rule of thirds needs to be adhered to.
